Host Families Still Needed:
"Live the Dream" of an aspiring professional baseball player.
You might not be right on the field, but you certainly will be witnessing
first hand the fun and excitement of chasing a dream that could end up in
the Majors!
The Frontier League promotes the Host family concept for a number or
reasons. It helps these young aspiring ball players with their housing
needs, but it also affords the opportunity for families in a community to see first hand the trials and tribulation of being a professional baseball
player.
The requirements are minimal. The player or players you host will need a
clean place to sleep and a place to call home, while, the Sliders are in
Slippery Rock, playing their home dates. Your actual responsibilities pretty
much end there. Keep in mind, these are responsible adults who are very
self sufficient. We have found in most cases, host families take on more of
a role – almost adopting these players for the summer. But any other
amenities you might offer (i.e. providing occasional meals and use of
washers and dryers etc), would be your choice and is not required.
In addition to you and your family enjoying the one-on-one interaction and
getting to know these fine young athletes, the Sliders will also provide
your family with two season tickets that will get you into all Slider home -
along with some other fun events that your family can take part in at the
ballpark. So give it some thought and make plans now to joining the Host
Family program. It will be a great experience and your entire family will
enjoy a great summer of fun and excitement.
